Poll:Do you go to a supermarket whilst on Holiday to save money?

yep- more money for booze!

Of course – tea, ketchup, biscuits, that cheap nasty toilet roll that crumbles in your hand……

Just for liquor usually

No way
Life is too short

In Vegas, I tried, but too far from strip.

Coincidence? I think not

I would think so if you are on a "self catering " holiday!!!!

Nope. Did that once and it ended up costing a lot more than going to a restaurant, plus there was the washing up to contend with afterwards :(

PLEASE! I need to save money on a Politics In America textbook!?

Is the textbook "Politics in America Texas Edition; Seventh (7th) Edition; Thomas R. Dye; L. Tucker Gibson, Jr., Clay Robison." ANY different than the 6th Edition of the same thing? There is more than a $100 difference in the two, and I need to save as much $ as possible. If there ARE differences, what are they?

www.amazon.com Check the used books

same with www.half.com!!!!

It is true yo uwill save money on your electric bill if you keep your thermostat set to 72 degrees?

Rather then turning it off and on through the day!?!?

Depends on the energy efficiency of your home. If you have a very energy efficient home then yes, that is the way to go. If you don't neither way will save you money.

Save more money by cutting off your water heater at night and as often as possible….

you will save even more by setting it @ 68 and wearing a sweater..It uses less energy by keeping the house @ a certain temp instead of turning it off and having the temp drop , and the heater has to work harder and longer to bring the temp back up. Turn it down a few degrees if you are leaving the house for any length of time. No use heating an empty house.

Yes – we do 68 in the winter, 78 in the summer, and wear sweaters in the winter and shorts in the summer. Saves us a ton of money. Not uncomfortable either – if we get cold, we grab a hot cocoa and a throw and snuggle in.

nope!!we did that last year and our ave.bill was 180.00 a month.
this year we turn on and off as needed and our bill ave has been 85.00.
this year has been colder and the heating cost are up.you don't leave your car running in the driveway cause you might need to go somewhere do you?same thing.

Depending on how cold it gets= your heater has to work very hard to bring the heat up to 72 if it is really cold inside= but if it kicks on and off during day – it will not work or run as hard=saving energy=D

Yes, and I keep mine set at 68 year round.

Does anyone from Texas want to save money on their electric bill?

Yeah, that would be great! My electricity bill is outrageous during the summer months and I am never even at home during the day. So, therefore, I am paying for a small amount of electricty usage.

Why do I spend more money at cheap Supermarkets?

Why do I spend more money at cheap Supermarkets?

I normally shop at Asda,Tesco,Sainsbury's or Morrisons, (usually Asda/Walmart) but I wanted to save a bit of money and tried Lidl's and Aldi, Summerfields etc… but my weekly shop is £20-£30 more from them, why? when they are meant to be the cheapest places to shop from?

You buy more things because they are cheaper?

If I go into a more expensive store, I'm more cautious about what I choose to purchase. I save the bulk of it for a supermarket with better prices. I spend more, but it works out to be less for what I'm actually getting.

Hah what an odd question. Can't you work out yourself why you spent more? Either you got more goods, or the ones you bought were more expensive. Lidl and Aldi aren't that cheap really – in germany they are some of the main supermarkets, and in my experience somerfield is rubbish.

How Come No One Told Me That College Wasn't Like The Movies?

:( i feel so unhappy right now, but i can't quit because the work is easy…but it bores me…i have nothing to do, there is nowhere to go, it has been like a week or two and i'm already planning on transferring.
i HATE my college. my roommate won't come out of her room, everyone have already formed groups (i think they went to high school together) and i am SO LONELY. all i do is wake, eat, go to class, eat, work out, and watch tv. this place is frigging boring. i can't go out because i have to save my money for stupid textbooks. no one wants to hire me, not even ON CAMPUS because of my class schedule (which they won't let me change anymore) and i just need to TALK to someone. i want to have a CONVERSATION, not "can you direct me to the science building?"
:( i'm nice…cute…friendly…ppl should be my friend :(

i dunno y did u ask tht weerd tipe of question

Sorry you are going through this. I bet there are many people in the same position and wondering the same thing. I will guarantee you that you aren't alone!

Instead of giving up and transferring, I'd be more proactive. Join a club/organization. Do volunteer work (you can always find volunteer work). You can also form study groups with your classmates.

Don't give up. Continue finding part-time jobs.

Best wishes.

Hate to break it to ya, but life is NEVER like in the movies.

Try getting involved in something. Even if it's just one thing. At my school they have the Activities Fair where all the organizations line up in the middle of campus and you can check out each one. Try going to a university center or student center or look online through your school's website. Normally they have a list of things you can get involved in. Even if you don't know anyone else involved, just go. You'll meet people. And, your coursework will start picking up. You'll have some projects and papers to work on and exams coming up. Trust me, it's easy the first couple weeks. Even if you're only in 100 level courses, they still give you stuff to do. It might not be the most interesting, but it's stuff you need to get done anyway. Even if you go to the cafeteria, just sit by someone. At my school, a lot of people will just sit with someone else who is alone and they just start talking. Might not be much but you have to start somewhere.

u just started….it may take some time…start approching other ppl and as for money save a lil on the side for fun!!!!

Would turning down the thermostat help save money on the gas meter?

Would turning down the thermostat help save money on the gas meter?

Its getting quiet cold now and nearly all the time we have the central heating on. When I set out for school, would I be saving Gas by turning the thermostat off on my radiator because it will be heating a room when there is no one in.

Definitely. I keep my thermostat down low when I am away at work or sleeping. I also close vents in unused rooms and close the door to that room as well. It will save you a lot more than you think.

There are plenty of other ideas that will save you money. You can find more by getting a free account at the5gplan.com. Hope it helps you as much as it helped me.

Good luck!

How can i save money on my electric bill?

Leave the lights off in the rooms you are not in, unplug devices in outlets unless you have to use them, also contact your electric company and they should have recommendations for you. Here is a link I found as well that may help you further. http://www.otpco.com/saveenergymoney/tip…

make sure you set the air conditioning on a specific degree, turn off the lights when you not using them. unplug everything at night because even though you're not using them they still wasting energy. also remember to turn off your AC when there's no one in the house. Hope that help :)

keep you lights off, do not use your clothes dryer, air dry instead, do not use hair dryer.
that should help

Keeping the sun out helps a whole lot.
Fans can draw air through the rooms.
The thermostat set above 75 in the summer saves.
The clothes dryer is 220 and can really run the bill up. Drying only when you have a full load can keep the bill down.
Washing the clothes in cold water and only when there is a full load saves. Saves on the hot water heater.
Putting the hot water heater and fridge on save helps.
Turning off things you are not using will help.
Run the dish washer only when full.
The oven is 220. When it is on the AC runs more. Use it less.
